Tom Millay

Minister

Tom Millay

Tom Millay was ordained as a minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 2017. He studied at Duke University (M.Div., 2011) and Baylor University (Ph.D. in Theology, 2019). Tom was called to serve First Christian Goldsboro in June of 2020, after having visited the church many times with his wife, Laura Ziemer Millay, who grew up at First Christian. He loves to study the Bible and talk to people about it, and he believes that prayer has the power to change lives. He believes in the important work ministers can do for the good of a city, and serves on the boards of the local non-profits Literacy Connections and Rebuilding Broken Places. He has two lovely daughters, Margaret and Eleanor. Tom is the author of three books, You Must Change Your Life: Søren Kierkegaard's Philosophy of Reading (2020), Kierkegaard and the New Nationalism (2021), and The Abased Christ: A New Reading of Kierkegaard's Practice in Christianity (2022). He would love to talk to you, especially if you have questions about the Bible or the Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard.
